Abstract

Systems and methods for controlling transmission shifts are disclosed. A system and method for controlling transmission shifting during a braking event in a vehicle having an electric motor and friction brakes both operable to brake the vehicle, the method comprising reducing friction during the braking event The step of braking to increase wheel torque.
