The system comprises a data acquisition platform and a data analysis platform, which are in wired or wireless connection. The method comprises the following steps: the data acquisition platform carries out acquisition and transmits original data of a single-line laser radar to the data analysis platform; the data analysis platform converts the original data of the single-line laser radar into point cloud data, extracts contour of a line catcher, calculates distance and angle between the line catcher and the single-line laser radar and carries out analysis to obtain distance and angle needing to be adjusted of a trolley bus; the information above is stored and sent to the outside world, and the outside world helps to guide wires of the trolley bus to be connected to the line catcher by utilizing the information above; and the steps above are repeated to realize real-time data update, and thus the overall process of automatic positioning of the trolley bus is realized.
