[0075] PIB-PUR was synthesized as described in US Patent No. 8,324,290 entitled "Polyisobutylene Urethane, Urea and Urethane / Urea Copolymers and Medical Devices Containing the Same," which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. The PIB-PUR formed by this method is made as a thick film of polymer material. The PIB-PUR is cut or disassembled into polymer pieces having a largest dimension of from about 2 millimeters (mm) to about 20 mm.

Abstract

A method of preparing a solution comprising a block copolymer includes dissolving the block copolymer in a solvent mixture to form a solution, the solvent mixture comprising at least two solvent components. The block copolymer has a solubility in the solvent mixture of at least about 7% by weight at about 64°C. The solvent mixture is not reactive with the block copolymer. The block copolymer has a solubility in a single solvent solution consisting of any one of the at least two solvent components and the block copolymer of not greater than about 1% by weight at about 64°C. The block copolymer includes polyisobutylene segments and polyurethane segments.
