The present invention provides a method for calculating a driving range (DTE) when setting a navigation route. The method includes receiving a route search condition from the navigation and determining whether the transmitted route search condition is a route cancellation, vehicle arrival at a destination, or a navigation search route. The method determines whether the sent route search condition is an initial setup route condition or a reset route condition. When the route search condition sent is not the above, the method determines whether there is a current guide.
