The method comprises the following steps: a storage tank is prepared, polyurethane foam and polyurea are sprayed on a surface of the storage tank, liquid nitrogen is injected into the storage tank to make temperature of an inner surface of the storage tank to be below 196 DEG C, the storage tank is provided with an opening, a temperature sensor is arranged on an outersurface of a tank body, a temperature sensor is arranged in a polyurethane foam layer, and a sensor is arranged in a polyurea layer; then cooling is performed, and temperature of the temperature sensor of each layer is recorded; finally sampling operation is performed; cracks and bonding strength and other properties are checked to determine the low temperature performance quality of the storagetank, the problem can be well solved, and the method can be used for determining quality of the low temperature insulating material storage tank.
