[0073] 1. Background

[0074] Looking at the future of healthcare and human wellness at this point, three categories of interconnection are evident: (i) trends in collecting and monitoring data from our bodies; (ii) health budgets under pressure; and (iii) automation in medicine.

[0075] As people become more health-educated (early forerunners in the 'quantification of self' movement), they live longer and require more physicians, and some evidence suggests that the 'power curve ( powercurve)' is shifting towards the consumer. For products to be successful in this space, they must attach themselves to a person's life and become indispensable. Prevention is cheaper than cure, and the health system must shift toward outcome-based measurement—more akin to the ancient Chinese system in which doctors get paid by keeping people healthy, not when people are sick ( i.e., contrary to the typical way in the western world to pay for drugs).

Abstract

One or more sensors are configured for detection of characteristics of moving objects and living subjects for human identification or authentication. One or more processors, such as in a system of sensors or that control a sensor, may be configured to process signals from the one or more sensors to identify a person. The processing may include evaluating features from the signals such as breathingrate, respiration depth, degree of movement and heart rate etc. The sensors may be radio frequency non-contact sensors with automated detection control to change detection control parameters based onthe identification of living beings, such as to avoid sensor interference.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of the filing dates of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 149,839, filed April 20, 2015, and U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 207,687, filed Aug. 20, 2015, the disclosures of which are hereby incorporated by reference way incorporated into this article. technical field [0003] The technology involves circuits and sensors for detecting characteristics of moving objects and living subjects. More specifically, the technology relates to such sensors, such as in health monitors, such as range-gated radio frequency motion sensing, with a particular focus on signal characteristics for human identification or authentication. Background technique [0004] Continuous wave (CW) Doppler radar motion sensors emit a continuous wave radio frequency (RF) carrier and mix the transmitted RF with the returning echo to produce a difference frequency equal to the Doppler shift produce...
