Abstract

The invention provides a fiber-integrated Mach-Zehnder optical switch based on a miniature piezoelectric transducer array. To be specific, two 3dB couplers are prepared at two ends of a double-core fiber to construct a fiber-integrated Mach-Zehnder interferometer on two core optical paths of the double-core fiber; and a miniature piezoelectric transducer array is prepared between the two 3dB couplers to serve as a modulation unit. The miniature piezoelectric transducer array is prepared at the proper position on the surface of the double-core fiber, spatial distributed extrusion is carried outon the fiber under the effect of an externally applied programmable voltage signal, and a phase difference is generated between the output light waves of two-path channels of the interferometer due to the refractive index modulation caused by extrusion. With the selected voltage coding input, rapid switching of the two kinds of phase differences is realized and thus the fiber-integrated optical switch function is realized. The fiber-integrated Mach-Zehnder optical switch can be widely applied to the field of integrated optical devices and optical fiber communication.
