The DCS automatic control system (5) controls the carbon extraction device (1), the pulp storage device (2), the activated carbon storage device (3), and the measuring device (4) to operate according to a prescribed procedure, and according to pulp and activated carbon level data measured by a laser liquidometer (41) , calculates the amount of activated carbon contained in the pulp per unit volume in the adsorption tank, namely, the density of the activated carbon, thereby automatically implements the measurement of the density of the activated carbon in the adsorption tank.
