The energy storage system comprises a battery cell, an insertion frame, a back panel and a battery management system (BMS), wherein a plurality of battery cell grooves are reserved in the insertion frame, the battery cell is connected with the back panel by the battery cell grooves, the back panel is arranged in the insertion frame, first power terminals are reservedat positions, corresponding to the battery cell grooves, on the back panel, second power terminals of the battery cell and the first power terminals form plug power terminals, a power circuit, a sampling circuit and an equalization circuit are integrated onto the back panel, the power circuit, the sampling circuit and the equalization circuit are connected after the second power terminals and thefirst power terminals are plugged and abutted, and the BMS is connected with the back panel and is used for managing the energy storage system.
