The method comprises: dividing a buffer pool and a tape library into a plurality of firststorage units and second storage units; configuring a corresponding buffer pool index area for the buffer pool and configuring a corresponding tape library index area for the tape library; when to-be-stored data is obtained, obtaining a second storage unit used for storing the data according to the storage information, stored in the tape library index area, of each second storage unit, obtaining afirst storage unit corresponding to the second storage unit, and writing the data into the first storage unit; and after all the data is written into the first storage unit, migrating the data to a corresponding second storage unit in the tape library. According to the data backup management scheme, the index area and the data storage area are separated, data management is facilitated, the indexdata are cached in the buffer pool, the storage retrieval efficiency is improved, data backup is achieved through the tape library, and the management cost is reduced.
