The invention provides an automatic regulating device and method for clamping force of an injection molding machine. The method comprises the steps of installing a clamping force sensor; opening a dieto a set position, and regulating the die to retreat, and closing the die in a die regulating mode; verifying whether a crosshead is at the foremost position or not, regulating die to enter if yes, and returning to the step (1) if not; after regulating the die to enter, and stopping regulation when the sensing clamping force sensor signal is not changed within 1 second; setting the clamping forceaccording to customer requirements, and calculating the corresponding position of the crosshead based on a clamping force-crosshead position comparison table; retreating the crosshead to the calculation position in the die regulating mode; regulating the die to enter, and stopping regulation when the sensing clamping force sensor signal is not changed within 1 second; closing the die in a manualmode; verifying whether the clamping force is within a set value permissible range or not, and finishing automatic regulation of the die if yes; opening the die in the manual mode if not; regulating the die to retreat, and closing the die in the die regulating mode; moving the crosshead to the foremost position in the die regulating mode, and performing calculation through a control module; and returning to the step (4). The automatic regulating device has the advantages of capability of automatic regulation of the clamping force, small error and high accuracy.
