The method comprises the following steps of establishing a healthy motor-pump model by collecting the voltage and current of a motor; training the healthy motor-pump model by using any phase of current and voltage as the input of the healthy motor-pump model and using a fault indicator FDI as the output of the healthy motor-pump model; obtaining a model estimator per unit time through the trained healthy motor-pump model according to the voltage and current values in unit time, obtaininga FDIC value according to the model estimator per unit time and the fault indicator FDI calculated in a measured signal in unit time; determining whether the pump system is faulty according to the FDIC value; and if the pump system is faulty, detecting the phase relationship between the current harmonic components of the motor through a high-order spectrum, and determining whether the motor is faulty.
