Abstract

An emergency location notification system comprising: an Emergency Mobile Positioning (EMP) server; an Emergency Services Number (ESN) database server storing addresses of citizens and associated tags that are provided by an Internet server provider ( ISP) provided over an IP network; a wireless access point (AP) EMP‑AP component executing on the processor of the AP at a citizen address known to the ISP that provides a tag that is part of a radio frequency (RF) beacon signal transmitted by the AP; and a mobile operating system (OS) EMP-OS component that executes on a processor of the cellular phone, and operative to monitor the AP for beacon signals and to store the tag, the EMP-OS component further operative to embed the tag into an emergency call from the cell phone over the network to the EMP server middle.
