[0022] figure 1 A cellulose pulp dryer 1 is shown in a schematic way for drying cellulose pulp according to the airborne web principle, wherein the cellulose pulp is dried by hot air while traveling along the horizontal drying section of the pulp dryer 1 . Thus, the dryer 1 utilizes heated air to dry and support the pulp web. Typically, the dryer 1 will comprise 4 to 40 drying stations. Large dryers can even include more than 50 drying stations.

[0023] The wet pulp web 3 enters the dryer 1 at a known speed via the inlet 5 arranged in the first side wall 7 of the pulp dryer housing 9 . exist figure 1 In the pulp dryer of , the inlet 5 is arranged in the upper part of the side wall 7 , but in an alternative dryer the inlet may be arranged in the lower part of the first side wall 7 . The web 3 advances horizontally to the right in the dryer 1 until the web 3 reaches turning rolls (not shown). The web 3 is turned around a turning roll and then travels horizontally to the le...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of determining the moisture content of a web (3) of cellulose pulp arriving at a pulp dryer (1). The method comprises measuring, at several instants during a predetermined time interval, the moisture content of said web (3) using a moisture sensor (19) arranged upstream of the pulp dryer (1); measuring state variables of drying medium of said pulp dryer (1); calculating, based on said moisture sensor measurements, a total value of moisture introduced into the pulp dryer (1) by a portion of said web (3) during said predetermined time interval; determining, based on said measured state variables, a predicted total value of moisture present inside the pulp dryer (1); comparing said calculated total value with said predicted total value to obtain a deviation therebetween; calibrating said moisture sensor (19) using said deviation; and measuring the moisture content of a web (3) of cellulose pulp using said calibrated moisture sensor (19).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for determining the moisture content of a web of cellulose pulp reaching a pulp dryer. Background technique [0002] Cellulosic pulp is usually dried in a dryer with several stacked horizontal drying tables. Cellulosic pulp with a moisture content of about 50% is fed into a pulp dryer. A web of cellulose pulp is conveyed across the drying table of the dryer. Dried cellulose pulp with a moisture content of about 10% is delivered at the end of the lowest drying table. [0003] An example of a cellulose pulp dryer is shown in WO 2012 / 074462 A1. The hot gas in the form of hot air is blown onto the cellulose pulp web by means of an upper blow box and a lower blow box. The air blown by the blow box transfers heat to the web to dry it. Additionally, the air blown by the down blow boxes keeps the web floating above the down blow boxes. The hot air is supplied to the blow box through a circulating air system consi...
