The device comprises a millimeter wave radar used for emitting a detection signal aiming at a vehicle door and receiving a reflection signal reflected by the vehicle door according to the detection signal; a calculation module which is used for calculating a distance difference value between the distance between the vehicle door and the millimeter-wave radar before the vehicle door is opened and the distance between the vehicle door and the millimeter-wave radar after the vehicle door is closed according to the reflection signal, and a signal intensity difference value between the reflection signal intensity before the vehicle door is opened and the reflection signal intensity after the vehicle door is closed; a detection module which is used for detecting whether foreign matters exist on the vehicle door or not according to the distance difference calculation result and the signal intensity difference calculation result; and a warning module which is used for sending out warning information when the detection module detects that the foreign matter exists in the vehicle door. Therefore, whether foreign matters exist at the vehicle door or not can be quickly detected when the vehicle door is closed, and the accuracy of foreign matter detection is improved.
