Abstract

The invention relates to a method for starting an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, in which method pistons of the internal combustion engine (1) are positioned by a movement of a crankshaft (2) of the internal combustion engine (1), prior to ignition of the internal combustion engine (1). In a method in which the energy consumption for positioning the pistons of the internal combustion engine is reduced, the crankshaft (2) for positioning the pistons is moved by actuating a coupling (3) integrated into the drive train of the vehicle.
