Abstract

The present invention relates to a sample handling device including a reservoir (11) for holding a fluid medium (12); a channel system (21) in connection with the said reservoir, including a dilution portion (31) for a sample (19) to be analyzed with a measurement device (14), which sample is arranged to be transferred from the dilution portion to the measurement device by the fluid medium; a channel device (27) in the dilution portion arranged to fill by capillary action to collect an established quantity of the sample to be diluted by the fluid medium; a pump (13) to transfer the fluid medium from the reservoir to the channel system, said pump including at least one plunger (15) and a seal (16) separating the reservoir and the channel system; a delivery system (32) of potential energy in the pump configured to provide repeatable transfer of the fluid medium from the reservoir to the channel system. The delivery system includes one or more compressible elements (17) arranged in the pump.
