Abstract

The invention relates to an exhaust gas aftertreatment system (100) for treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, wherein the exhaust gas after treatment system (100) comprises: an exhaust gas catalyst (110) comprising an exhaust gas catalysis portion and a heating element (120), wherein the heating element (120) is configured to heat the exhaust gas catalysis portion, a voltage source (140) which supplies the heating element (120) with electric power for heating the heating element (120), a DC to DC converter (170) which is configured to control the electric power supply from the voltage source (140) to the heating element (120), and a control unit (200) which is configured to control the DC to DC converter (170) based on the required electric power to heat the exhaust gas catalysis portion.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an exhaust gas aftertreatment system for treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and a method for controlling the exhaust gas aftertreatment system of an internal combustion engine. Background technique [0002] Exhaust gas aftertreatment systems are particularly used in vehicles employing internal combustion engines to treat their exhaust gas in order to reduce the exhaust gas emissions of the internal combustion engine. Accordingly, exhaust gas aftertreatment systems include components such as exhaust gas catalysts. Exhaust gas catalysts treat exhaust emissions through chemical redox. The exhaust gas catalyst thus comprises an exhaust gas catalytic section through which the exhaust gas flows and in which chemical redox takes place. [0003] The operating temperature required for the exhaust gas catalytic part is usually in the region above 200°C. To achieve this temperature, exhaust gas catalysts us...
