Problems solved by technology

However, there are issues related to subblock interleavers and rate matching
For example, for polar encoding with rate matching, where an interleaver is used at the encoder output, some of the input bits may be prone to errors, degrading code block error performance
Furthermore, the corresponding input bits that are punctured or shortened after rate matching will negatively affect the polarization effects of other input bits

Abstract

Methods and apparatus related to additional bit freezing for polarization coding are described. An apparatus performs polar encoding to encode a plurality of input sub-blocks of information bits, freeze bits, and optional cyclic redundancy check (CRC) bits to generate a plurality of encoded bit sub-blocks. The apparatus then transmits at least some of the encoded bit sub-blocks. When performing polarization coding, the apparatus additionally freezes one of the plurality of input sub-blocks corresponding to one of the interleaved plurality of coded bit sub-blocks, which reduces polarization gain due to puncturing. According to the method and the device for freezing the additional bits of the polarization coding in the mobile communication provided by the invention, the problem that the code block error performance of the polarization coding with rate matching is reduced due to the fact that part of input bits are easy to make mistakes because an interleaver is used for encoder output can be avoided; and negative effects of corresponding input bits punctured or shortened after rate matching on polarization effects of other input bits can be reduced, and system performance is maintained by additionally freezing these affected bits.
