Apparatus and method for resonant-vibratory mixing

An apparatus and method for mixing fluids and / or solids in a manner that can be varied from maintaining the integrity of fragile molecular and biological materials in the mixing vessel to homogenizing heavy aggregate material by supplying large amounts of energy. Variation in the manner of mixing is accomplished using an electronic controller to generate signals to control the frequency and amplitude of the motor(s), which drive an unbalanced shaft assembly to produce a linear vibratory motion. The motor may be a stepper motors a linear motor or a DC continuous motor. By placing a sensor on the mixing vessel platform to provide feedback control of the mixing motor, the characteristics of agitation in the fluid or solid can be adjusted to optimize the degree of mixing and produce a high quality mixant.

Protective material

A protective material / structure is provided that reduces the risk of injury for a person after contact with said material / structure, and is based on a structure where an inner and outer shell can move relative to each other. The shells are separated by spikes or thin beams and the outer shell covers or envelops the spikes. The spikes or beams are constructed so that they permit displacement of the outer shell relative to the inner shell in the event of an oblique impact against the protective material / structure. The spikes or beams are designed to be thin / slim and can be made of flexible polymer materials such as plastics, rubber or fibers. This enables the spikes to give way after a tangential / rotational impact and thereby efficiently reduce the negative effects of such an impact on the brain. The material / structure can be used in e.g. helmets, vehicle interiors, vehicle exteriors, indoor house building material, boxing gloves and the like.

Multiple chamber rotating shaft seal with selective pressure reduction

A seal balancing arrangement for a rotating or reciprocating shaft used in a high pressure and / or high velocity environment includes a plurality of grease balancing chambers each bordered by a pair of seals and filled with extreme pressure grease. The grease is compressed between the additional grease chambers by the movement of the first seal due to pressure acting on this seal by system internal pressures, thereby reducing pressure on the first seal while distributing the pressure between the remaining seals. The balancing chambers are arranged such that the grease in between the seals can be replenished through ports provided in a supporting housing, thereby extending the life of the seal assembly by allowing grease to lubricate the seal faces by extruding grease from each grease chamber. The seals may include a combination of stationary and floating seals, with the floating seals having different surface areas and optionally being connected by a piston, to vary the pressure in corresponding balancing chambers.

Stage device, exposure system, method of device manufacture, and device

A barrel supporting bed (58) for holding a projection optical system (PL), a driving mechanism (86A, 86B) for driving a stage (WST), a frame (84A, 84B) in which a reaction force caused by driving the stage (WST) is transmitted in a non-contact to the supporting bed (58), and a damping member (85) that is arranged on the frame are provided. Therefore, a vibration and a reaction force, which are caused by the reaction force caused by driving the stage, are damped by the damping member and are transmitted to the earth (set floor), thereby making it possible to effectively reduce a force that is transmitted to the supporting bed from the earth. The frame and the supporting bed have an independent relationship with respect to the vibration, so that the reaction force and the vibration of the frame due thereto exert no direct influence on the projection optical system. This results in suppressing an influence on exposure accuracy which is exerted by vibration of components in an apparatus.

High-temperature fuel cell stack, and production thereof

Disclosed is a cassette for a high-temperature fuel cell stack, comprising at least one fuel cell that encompasses an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte, and a metal cell frame which surrounds the fuel cell. Said metal cell frame has two sections, i.e. an internal, thin compensating frame that contacts the fuel cell and a thicker, rigid external frame which is used for contacting the interconnector. The internal compensating frame comprises a circumferential bead at room temperature, said bead entirely disappearing at temperatures ranging between 980 DEG C and 1100 DEG C as a result of the prevailing stresses. The bead has special relief functions. It is significant that said special function of the formed bead is exclusively achieved by the fact that the faults in the compensating metal sheet or the compensating film are formed solely because of the joining sequence used, i.e. only in combination with the joining process used. In comparison, a part that already has a bead prior to the joining process could also compensate stresses but not to the same extent as a bead produced using said joining process.

A ratchet (25) arrangement is provided to rotationally couple a ratchet component and an internal surface of the housing in a coupled state and to allow relative rotation between the ratchet component and the internal surface of the housing in an uncoupled state. An over-torque feature (27) located between the dose selector and the spring is actuatable, when the rotation of the dose selector causes the charging force to exceed a defined limit, to reduce the charging force transferred from the dose selector to the spring. Both the ratchet component and the over-torque feature are provided on a single component (28).
