Problems solved by technology

In other words, pilot-based channel estimation is difficult due to the reception of signals from multiple mobile stations (MSs) under different channel transfer functions
In addition, the different speeds of the mobile stations and the different distances between the MS and the base station (BS) make uplink synchronization difficult
[0009] Although a technique of using orthogonal codes to design pilot signals for uplink channel estimation is proposed in Korean Patent Application No. 2001-0058248, it has a disadvantage in that the use of additional pilot signals for channel estimation is reduced band efficiency

Embodiment Construction

[0022] Here, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, well-known functions or constructions are not described in detail since they would obscure the invention in unnecessary detail.

[0023] According to the invention, the MC-CDMA uplink pilot signal is designed such that it includes a synchronization code in the time domain and allows channel estimation for each user in the frequency domain.

[0024] figure 1 The time domain structure of the pilot signal designed according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention is illustrated.

[0025] refer to figure 1 , the pilot signal consists of GI 101 for removing delay spread, synchronization code for timing synchronization (p 1 )102, and the channel signature (p 2 )103 is formed. The pilot signal with N samples excluding GI 101 is expressed as Equation 1:

Abstract

A channel estimating method in a wireless communication system in which a plurality of MSs communicate with a BS on multiple carriers. Each of the MSs transmits to the BS a pilot signal designed to have simultaneous time-domain and frequency-domain responses. The BS is synchronized to the MS using the received pilot signal and performs channel estimation for the MS.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to mobile communication systems, and more particularly to a method for designing pilot signals that simultaneously support synchronization and channel estimation in a Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) system. Background technique [0002] Next-generation mobile communication systems require high-speed and high-quality data transmission to provide various multimedia services with improved quality. In order to meet this demand, research on the MC-CDMA system is being actively conducted. [0003] MC-CDMA systems are based on CDMA and multi-carrier techniques such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). [0004] In OFDM, data is transmitted on narrowband subcarriers that are orthogonal to each other, thereby reducing the performance degradation that can be caused by frequency selective fading encountered in wideband transmissions. OFDM also overcomes the problem of inter-symbol int...
