The main components of the valve release assembly 10 according to the technical solution of the present invention are the outer body part 12, the inner body part 14 and the locking assembly 16. The generally cylindrical inner body part 14 is slidably received in a longitudinal hole 18 defined by the outer body part 12. In the illustrated embodiment, the inner body member supports a hydraulic clearance adjustment device ("HLA") generally indicated by the number 20, which may be of a type well known to those skilled in the art. HLA20 is not an essential feature of the present invention, and its function will not be further explained here. The upper end of the HLA is a ball plug 22, which is usually accommodated in a hemispherical socket of a rocker arm (not shown in the figure).
