142 results about "Alert state" patented technology

An alert state or state of alert is an indication of the state of readiness of the armed forces for military action or a state against natural disasters, terrorism or military attack. The term frequently used is on High Alert Examples scales indicating alert state are the DEFCON levels of the US military, South Korea's "Jindogae" system, and the UK Threat Levels. High alert states are synonymous with red alert.

Method and apparatus for generating temperature based alerting signals

An apparatus for providing a temperature based alerting signal to a user to alert the user to the occurrence of a particular or predetermined event. The temperature based alerting device may be incorporated into jewelry, garments, or a releasable strap and includes at least one spot heating element that is maintained in substantial contact with the user's skin. Upon detected occurrence of the predetermined event, as for example an incoming telephone call or page, the user is silently alerted by a change in the temperature of the spot heating element in contact with the user's skin. Subsequent action by the user, as for example answering of the incoming call or page, causes the temperature based alerting device to reset to an initial, non-alert state.

Method and system for analyzing and predicting the performance of computer network using time series measurements

A monitoring system including a baseline model that automatically captures and models normal system behavior, a correlation model that employs multivariate autoregression analysis to detect abnormal system behavior, and an alarm service that weights and scores a variety of alerts to determine an alarm status and implement appropriate response actions. The baseline model decomposes the input variables into a number of components representing relatively predictable behaviors so that the erratic component e(t) may be isolated for further processing. These components include a global trend component, a cyclical component, and a seasonal component. Modeling and continually updating these components separately permits a more accurate identification of the erratic component of the input variable, which typically reflects abnormal patterns when they occur.

Method and system for detecting unauthorized use of a communication network

A system for detecting unauthorised use of a network is provided with a pattern matching engine for searching attack signatures into data packets, and with a response analysis engine for detecting response signatures into data packets sent back from an attacked network / computer. When a suspect signature has been detected into a packet, the system enters an alarm status starting a monitoring process on the packets sent back from the potentially attacked network / computer. An alarm is generated only in case the analysis of the response packets produces as well a positive result. Such intrusion detection system is much less prone to false positives and misdiagnosis than a conventional pattern matching intrusion detection system.

Method and system for standby auxiliary processing of information for a computing device

A method and system for auxiliary processing of information for a computing device. By simplifying the user managed power states to On and Standby, the computing device preserves its execution context by default when the machine is powered down. As a result, the computing device is made available for use even when it appears to be powered down. The computer hardware and software is capable of responding immediately to network or communication activity, user input, and other events. While the computer is in Standby, it is alert and able to handle background tasks that do not require user interaction. Activities such as answering phone calls, handling voice mail, displaying new e-mail, record voice messages, browsing the Internet, recording TV shows and so forth occur without the user having to turn on the computer.

Wireless fire alarm door unlocking interface

A wireless fire alarm door unlocking system includes a remote alarm panel interface to receive information from a central alarm panel interface over an RF channel. The central alarm panel interface monitors an output from an alarm control panel and, when an alarm condition is asserted, initiates an unlock signal that is sent to the remote alarm panel interface. It in turn causes the door with which it is associated to unconditionally release to allow unimpeded entrance and exit. The system also monitors the status of the remove alarm panel interface and raises an alert in the event of a malfunction. The interface may be implemented as a hardware and software modification to an access control system or as separate components that coexist with an access control system on a non-interfering basis.

Visual security operations system

A security alarm monitor is disclosed that uses a combination of three dimensional (3D) and two dimensional (2D) visualization to display the status of security devices and allow the operator to respond to alarms. The alarm monitor console includes 3D and 2D display areas, either in a split screen on a single monitor or on dual monitors. The 3D display area uses a photo-realistic representation of a facility and overlays iconic or 3D representations of the security devices showing their locations, coverage areas, and alarm status. The 2D display area shows a map, architectural drawing, image-based overhead view, or combination or the three for a facility and security device icons. The alarm representations in the 2D and 3D display areas are synchronized. The 3D display gives a dynamic view of the facility or compound. When an alarm occurs, the 3D display flies to preprogrammed view of the alarm location, issues a preprogrammed audio alert, and animates the alarm icon to indicate its status.

Method for performing real-time analytics using a business rules engine on real-time heterogeneous materialized data views

A method for performing real-time analytics using a business rules engine on real time heterogeneous materialized data views is disclosed. The method comprises processing of rows produced by views corresponding to events. The rows are processed according to business rules by a view engine. Views with conditions equivalent to rule conditions are subscribed to by a rule engine, which outputs action messages corresponding to the rule condition. Where the rule condition is satisfied, a statement to that effect is sent, with any available reportlets, to an alert engine. The alert engine handles alert states corresponding to the action statement, saves any corresponding reportlets, and generates a message to fire an alert to a notification engine. The notification engine formats the alert and sends the alert by a selected medium, such as email, a webservice call, or another network protocol.

Method and System for Managing Denial of Service Situations

For managing denial of service situations at an application level in a communications network receiving message data, the message data are monitored in a sensor that sends an event message when detecting an alarm condition; a control logic detects a first analysis to be performed associated with the received event message and generates a request; an analysis module receives the request of analysis, performs the analysis and sends a result message; the control logic receives the result message and detects an action to be taken associated with the result message, the action being a countermeasure or a further analysis. For determining the analysis to be performed and the action to be taken, the control logic browses rules stored in a memory, each rule including a conditional clause and an associated action to be taken.
