Scorpion-derived polypeptides against influenza virus and uses thereof

This invention belongs to the field of biomedical technology, specifically disclosing a scorpion-derived polypeptide for combating influenza virus and its applications. The scorpion-derived polypeptide has the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:1, or is a functional variant obtained by substitution, deletion, and / or addition of one or more amino acids from the same sequence, retaining its anti-influenza virus activity. This invention belongs to the field of biomedical technology and relates to a novel use of chlorpropamide, particularly its use in the preparation of antiviral drugs for influenza. This invention verifies the antiviral efficacy of chlorpropamide using a host-targeting strategy. Experiments have confirmed that chlorpropamide exhibits low cytotoxicity, can target the early stages of influenza virus replication, inhibits viral protein and gene expression, regulates the host inflammatory response, and significantly inhibits the replication of H1N1 PR8 influenza virus in vitro. Chlorpropamide is a major component of commercially available hypoglycemic drugs, with a well-established safety profile, short development cycle, and low cost. It can circumvent the bottleneck of viral resistance and has significant clinical value in the preparation of antiviral drugs for influenza.

Synergistic botanical formulation for the treatment of herpes virus infections and related methods

A synergistic botanical formulation and related methods for the treatment of herpes virus infections, particularly herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), are disclosed. The formulation comprises at least one botanical extract with an extracellular antiviral mechanism and at least one botanical extract with an intracellular antiviral mechanism, selected through in vitro assays to provide complementary modes of action. Extracts are prepared under conditions that selectively isolate hydrophilic or hydrophobic constituents, and are combined in proportions based on individual antiviral activity to maximize synergistic inhibition of viral replication. The formulation is standardized to measured biological activity rather than marker compounds, ensuring consistent therapeutic performance despite variability in botanical sources. When administered topically, the formulation reduces lesion healing time, increases antiviral potency compared to conventional over-the-counter treatments, and decreases the likelihood of viral resistance development. Pharmaceutical compositions, methods of preparation, and treatment protocols are also provided.
