[0019] figure 1 A schematic diagram of an optical connector system 1 comprising a backplane 2 and a substrate 3 is shown. Via the optical cables 4, 5 and the components 6 on the substrate 3, optical communication can be established. Said optical communication may involve a first interface part 7 and a second interface part 8 to establish an optical interface for optical communication. Furthermore, a first electrical contact 9 and a second electrical contact 10 are provided on the backplane 2 and the substrate 3 respectively to allow transmission of electrical signals. Since alignment is critical to provide a low-loss optical interface, it is more preferred for such an optical connector system 1 that the optical interface is completed before the electrical connection between the first and second electrical contacts 9,10 is established. Because otherwise establishing an electrical connection may disturb the alignment of the optical interface.
