Abstract

The invention discloses a baffle valve assembly. The baffle valve assembly has a compensating port assembly (32) with a discharge valve element (64) movable between an open position and a closed position. The compensating port assembly features a structural support member in the form of a retainer key (80) secured to the flapper valve element both axially and radially. Additionally, a compressible spring (86) is seated between the structural support member and the valve element, which provides a biasing force on the valve element to urge the valve element toward the closed position.
