The invention provides a control and protection system for a thyristor controlled phase shifter of a supergrid and relates to operational control and protecting circuit devices of alternating current main lines or alternating current power distribution networks and control methods of the protecting circuit devices, in particular to the control and protection system for the thyristor controlled phase shifter used for optimization, regulation and control of the supergrid. The system comprises a management and support subsystem, a phase shifter control subsystem and a monitoring protection subsystem. The phase shifter control subsystem is composed of an analog quantity sampling control unit and a switch switching control unit. The analog quantity sampling control unit comprises a voltage steady-state automatic gear adjustment module, a manual gear adjustment module, a thyristor controlled phase shifter gear adjustment module, a digital phase-locked loop module and a thyristor trigger module. The switch switching control unit comprises an interlocking logic module, a sequential control/remote control module and a circuit breaker/isolating switch motion control module. The interlocking logic module and the sequential control/remote control module are connected to the circuit breaker/isolating switch motion control module. The line power and the target power are monitored in real time, so that steady-state active automatic control is achieved; auxiliary protection and body protection can be provided for a thyristor controlled phase shifter by the monitoring protection subsystem.
