Embodiment 1

[0118] Films of 1450 mm width were produced by flat film extrusion. The film comprises a 50 μm thick first layer, a 10 μm thick outer layer and a 10 μm thick adhesion promoter layer on the free face of the first layer.

[0119] The composition of the first layer was the same as that of Comparative Example 1.

[0120] The outer layer is made of 100% (w / w) polyethylene LD252 (ExxonMobil Chemical, PE-LD, d=0.923g / cm 3 )composition.

[0121] The adhesion promoter layer and adhesive were the same as in Comparative Example 1.

[0122] The adhesive solution was applied to the film using a coating rod and dried in an oven at 80°C for 4 minutes. The resulting protective film was trimmed and wound into a roll of 200 m long and 1400 mm wide. The adhesive applied amounts to 12 μm.

[0123] The self-adhesive films produced in this way are easy to unroll without wrinkling and can be applied flawlessly when used to protect automobiles.

Embodiment 2

[0125] The protective film was prepared by coextruding four layers, including the adhesive.

[0126] raw material:

[0127] - First layer 50 μm:

[0128] 60% (w / w) Daplen FFC 2012 block copolymer (PCD, melt index 5g / 10min at 230°C and 2.16kg, ethylene content about 12% (w / w)),

[0129] 25% (w / w) Daplen KF 201 homopolymer (PCD, melt index 8g / 10min at 230°C and 2.16kg),

[0130] 6.3% (w / w) Lupolen 1840H (LDPE, Elenac GmbH, melt index 1.5g / 10min at 190°C and 2.16kg, density 0.919g / cm 3 ),

[0131] 8.4% (w / w) titanium dioxide, and

[0132] 0.3% (w / w) Tinuvin 770.

[0133] - Second layer 10 μm:

[0134] 100% Polyethylene LD 165BW 1 (ExxonMobil Chemical PE-LD, d=0.922g / cm 3 ).

[0135] - Adhesion promoter layer 10 μm:

[0136] Same as Comparative Example 1.

[0137] - Adhesive layer 12 μm:

[0138] A copolymer of 59.5% (w / w) vinyl acetate and 39.5% (w / w) ethylene has a melt index of 3 g / 10 min at 190°C and 2.16 kg. Prior to extrusion, the adhesive raw material was proces...

Embodiment 3

[0141] Films of 1450 mm width were produced by flat film extrusion. The film comprises a 50 μm thick first layer, a 10 μm thick outer layer and a 10 μm thick adhesion promoter layer on the free face of the first layer.

[0142] The composition of the first layer was the same as that of Comparative Example 1.

[0143] The outer layer is made of PE-LD and PP copolymer (85% (w / w) ExxonMobil Chemical LD252, density = 0.923g / cm 3 , 15% (w / w) Daplen FCO 2012 block copolymer) composition.

[0144] The adhesion promoter layer and adhesive were the same as in Comparative Example 1.

[0145] The adhesive solution was applied to the film using a coating rod and dried in an oven at 80°C for 4 minutes. The resulting protective film was trimmed and wound into a roll of 200 m long and 1400 mm wide. The adhesive applied amounts to 12 μm.

[0146] The self-adhesive films produced in this way are easy to unroll without wrinkling and can be applied flawlessly when used to protect automobile...

Abstract

The invention relates to a self-adhesive protective film composed of a backing to one side of which an adhesive is applied, characterized in that the backing has at least two layers: a first layer, facing the adhesive, comprising an unoriented film which comprises at least one propylene block copolymer with an amount of 10% to 95% (w / w), and a second layer, facing away from the adhesive, comprising a film which contains at least 75% (w / w), preferably at least 80% (w / w), of a low-density polyethylene.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a weathering-stable with high adhesion for protecting surfaces such as glass, ceramic, stainless steel, polycarbonate glass or acrylic glass, more particularly painted surfaces Self-adhesive protective film while also having low unwind force when in roll form. The protective films of the present invention are particularly suitable for use in protecting newly completed vehicles such as automobiles and for protecting freshly painted vehicle parts from contamination and damage during assembly, transport and storage. Background technique [0002] EP 0 592 913 A1 describes a surface protection film for motor vehicle transport comprising an EVAc copolymer with a vinyl acetate content of 33%. With this protective film, no additional adhesive layer needs to be applied. This type of membrane is simple in structure, but it shows obvious disadvantages when it is used. Due to the high crystallization rate, the bond strength is v...
