Abstract

The method comprises the following steps: a. network equipment of a network side which preserves the information of the wireless data terminal determines that when the wireless data terminal needs an upgrade, PC side software is notified by the terminal; and the PC side software downloads a firmware upgrade edition upgrade pack of the terminal from the network equipment to a PC computer of the terminal, and notifies the terminal; and b. after receiving a notice, the terminal firstly downloads the upgrade pack to a free position of a memory of the terminal, and then causes the downloaded upgrade pack to be written to a predetermind address of the memory, thereby completing firmware upgrade which is carried out from the air. The invention also correspondingly provides the firmware upgrade device for the wireless data terminal.
