A plurality of pixels are formed on the second substrate, a pixel electrode is formed in each pixel area, and a plurality of slits are formed on the pixel electrodes, a public electrode is formed on the surface of the first substrate, and projections or slits are formed on the public electrode, wherein, horizontal control electrodes are arranged under part of the slits on the pixel electrodes, the horizontal control electrodes are parallel to the slits, and width of the horizontal control electrodes is less than that of the slits.
