The invention discloses a method and a device for measuring the gas production amount in the precharge of a lithium ion battery, wherein the method comprises the following steps: (a) putting a batteryfilled with electrolyte into a container containing liquid, and recording the liquid level position of the liquid in the container; (b) precharging the battery and recording the liquid level positionof the liquid in the container after precharging; and (c) calculating the gas production amount of the battery according to the former and latter liquid level positions. In the step (b), the time ofchange stop of the liquid level positions of the liquid is also recorded. The device comprises the sealed container containing the liquid, and the sealed container comprises a container bottle body and a sealed bottle plug, wherein scales for recording the liquid level position of the liquid are arranged in the container bottle body, and an electric connecting piece connected with the lithium ionbattery to be detected is also arranged on the sealed container. The invention measures the gas production amount of the battery in the precharging process by the simple method and realizes the quantitative analysis to the gas production performance of the electrolyte.
