Embodiment Construction

[0019] figure 1 A regenerating device of a water-carrying domestic appliance such as a dishwasher, which is not shown in detail here, is shown as a whole and is designated by the reference numeral 10 . The regeneration device 10 includes an ion exchanger 12 in which an ion exchange resin 14 is contained. The ion exchanger 12 is connected to a raw water supply line via a valve 16 . The ion exchanger 12 is thus arranged within the flow channel of the raw water. Water with a reduced hardness comparable to the raw water is discharged at the outlet 20 of the ion exchanger 12 . The design and mode of operation of ion exchangers 12 of this type are generally known, so that details of this aspect will not be dealt with in more detail within the scope of the present invention.

[0020] The regeneration device 10 also includes a storage container 22 into which regeneration salt 26 can be filled via a filling device 24 . The storage container 22 may be connected to the raw water supp...

Abstract

The invention relates to a water-conducting household appliance, comprising at least one water softening device, in which the untreated water can be guided through an ion exchanger and said ion exchanger can be regenerated by a regeneration salt brine. According to the invention, said appliance comprises a display (26) for displaying at least one remaining range value determined by the regeneration salt supply. The invention also relates to a method for softening water for a water-conducting household appliance.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a water-carrying household appliance comprising a water softening device according to the preamble of claim 1 . Background technique [0002] Water-carrying domestic appliances are known, such as dishwashers including water softening devices. Water softening devices of the type described are used to reduce the hardness of water. This passes water through an ion exchanger containing ion exchange resins. In this configuration, water comes into contact with an ion exchange resin, wherein during passage through the exchanger, ions, especially calcium and magnesium dissolved in the water, are replaced by sodium ions of the ion exchange resin. Water of low hardness is then available at the outlet of the ion exchanger. [0003] After a certain operating time after which the ion exchanger has been saturated with calcium and magnesium ions, the displacement capacity for sodium ions decays. The efficiency of the ion exchanger decreas...
