Embodiment 1

[0278] (1) Formation of external polarizing layer

[0279] An iodine-containing polarizer was attached to one surface of a glass substrate (liquid crystal cell substrate) with an adhesive film interposed therebetween, thereby forming an external polarizing layer. The degree of polarization of the external polarizing layer measured by the method described below was 0.99978, almost equal to the degree of polarization of polarizers commonly used in liquid crystal display devices.

[0280] (2) Formation of color filter layer

[0281] Color resist CG-9500L from FUJIFILM Electronic Materials, Co., Ltd. was coated on the surface of the glass substrate opposite to the surface having the external polarizing layer previously formed thereon by spin coating at 500 rpm for 20 seconds. The coated film was dried at 80°C for 5 minutes, and then annealed in an oven at 230°C for 1 hour. Thus, a color filter layer is formed. The depolarization index of the color filter layer measured by the m...

Abstract

The invention discloses a polarizing film, a laminate, and a liquid crystal display device. The polarizing film, satisfying Dl' / P'<=4.3X10-4 which expresses relation between degree of polarization P', and depolarization index Dl' calculated by the equation below is disclosed. X represents a value calculated by the equation below, provided that a polarizing plate having degree of polarization of P, the polarizing film, and a polarizing plate having degree of polarization P, having azimuths of transmission axes of a DEG, b DEG and c DEG, respectively, are stacked in this order as viewed from a flight source, to give brightness written as [a / b / c].

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. 119 from Japanese Patent Application No. 2009-199091 filed on August 28, 2009, the entire contents of which are expressly incorporated into this specification by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to a polarizing film usable as a so-called in-cell polarizer; and a laminate and a liquid crystal display device using the polarizing film. Background technique [0004] Conventionally, there has been a problem that the incorporation of color filters in liquid crystal display devices induces depolarization, thereby increasing the amount of transmitted light in a black state. One method that has been proposed to solve this problem is, for example, to provide a polarizing layer between the color filter and the liquid crystal material layer (so-called in-cell polarizer, hereinafter also referred to as "internal polarizing layer") (Japanese Patent Lai...
