The invention discloses a system and a method for detecting a connector based on a digital signal processor (DSP). A charge coupled device (CCD) vidicon is connected to a TVP5150 video decoder through a data link; a DM6437 chip is respectively connected with the TVP5150 video decoder, a FLASH register, a display and an MAX 3221 chip; and the MAX3221 chip is connected with an upper computer. Processing and judgment for images generated by the invention are carried out in a DSP chip with high-speed operation, thereby avoiding data loss caused by multi-transmission of the data; the DM6437 chip can operate for a long time, thereby avoiding logic confusion and execution error; a simple and efficient line detection algorithm can reduce arithmetic operations and improve accuracy; the system is small in volume, thereby being suitable for being installed on a plurality of production lines; and the system can reduce working difficulty of operators and improve working efficiency; therefore, the system and the method for detecting the connector based on the DSP is suitable for online detection in the production line of the connectors.
