Embodiment Construction

[0025] Figure 2A-2C A preferred embodiment is shown that has the following advantages: (i) control the tube shape, and (ii) allow the area / volume within the pumping pipe section at a given point in the pump stroke to be modeled (allowing to calculate the fluid flow rate) . Figure 4A with 4B Another embodiment is shown, which also has the following advantages: (i) control the tube shape, and (ii) allow the area / volume within the pumping pipe section at a given point of the pump stroke to be modeled. Figure 5 with 6 Shows for Figure 4A with 4B Suitable articulation arrangement of the embodiment.

[0026] Now refer to the attached drawings, especially figure 1 , Which shows a schematic illustration of the infusion pump 10. The pump 10 pumps the medication or medicament from the supply source 70 through the tube 18 to the patient 80 through the patient catheter or cannula 82. The tube 18 is loaded into the infusion pump 10 as shown so that the pump can push fluid from the supply...

Abstract

An infusion pump includes an actuator having an output shaft; a pump actuator comprising a plurality of members (30a, 30b, 30c, 30d) in hinged communication with each other so as to form a parallelogram construction, the plurality of members being hinged to the output shaft, and having a length 1 actuator moved by the output shaft and in contact with tubing, such that the pump actuator at an output shaft actuated distance x creates flat contact areas with the tubing, and wherein remaining non-contact areas of the tubing are at least substantially circular in shape; and a logic implementer configured to use at least two relationships to solve for a same number of variables to calculate a cross-sectional area of the tubing at an output shaft actuated distance x.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to medical equipment and more specifically to infusion pumps. Background technique [0002] Infusion pumps or tube pumps are often used to inject drugs or medicaments into patients. Tube pumps are simpler than diaphragm pumps. Moreover, the tube pump is directly operated with pipes and does not require a disposable pumping box or flexible diaphragm to operate. One-time processing costs are correspondingly reduced. In addition, the tubing is relatively simple to disinfect and maintain sterility. [0003] One problem with tube pumps is accuracy. The volume control of a peristaltic tube pump usually consists of counting the number of rotations of the pump roller against the tube loaded against the peristaltic pump race and assuming the volume of each revolution. The assumed volume is based on the internal volume of the tube contacted by the pump roller. One problem assumed is that the tube is not decompressed to its original ...
