Abstract

The invention relates to a flat panel display device with a backlight electricity-saving mechanism, which comprises a time sequence controller, a pixel array unit, an image brightness analysis unit, a backlight driving unit and a gamma voltage providing unit, wherein the time sequence controller is used for converting an image input signal into a sequence signal; the pixel array unit displays an image according to the sequence signal; the image brightness analysis unit analyzes the sequence signal to generate an image brightness signal corresponding to the image; the backlight driving unit adjusts backlight intensity according to the image brightness signal to save electricity; and the gamma voltage providing unit adjusts gamma voltage required for displaying the image according to the image brightness signal, wherein the gamma voltage is used for being matched with the adjusted backlight intensity to maintain the display contrast of the image.
