An anisotropic coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) cathode of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is formed by placing a layer of perovskite powder between two platens, and sintering the layer while applying pressure to the platens, thereby forming the anisotropic CTE cathode.
