Abstract

The invention relates to a backlight module and a liquid crystal display device. A light guide plate of the backlight module comprises a top face, a bottom face and a first side face through which the top face and the bottom face are connected. The top face includes an incident area and an emergent area. The incident area is adjacent to one end of the first side face in relation to the emergent face. A light guide bar of the backlight module comprises an incident face, an emergent face adjacent to the incident face and a connecting face. The incident face of the light guide bar faces a point source. The emergent face of the light guide bar faces the incident area of the light guide plate. Reflecting structures include the first reflecting structure and the second reflecting structure. The first reflecting structure covers part of the light guide plate. The second reflecting structure covers part of the light guide bar. Light of a point source enters the light guide bar through the incident face of the light guide bar, propagates in another way after being reflected by the second reflecting structure, and comes out of the light guide bar through the emergent face. The light from the emergent face enters the light guide plate through the incident area and then is then reflected by the first reflecting structure before coming out of the light guide plate.
