Embodiment Construction

[0072] The present invention relates to the removal of a wet disposal stream from a wet hydrocarbon stream in a water removal unit to produce an effluent stream comprising the wet hydrocarbon stream from which the wet disposal stream has been removed.

[0073] Figure 1-3 A process flow diagram for treating a hydrocarbon stream is schematically shown. first describe the Figure 1-3 Some basic features are common to the illustrated embodiments.

[0074] Figure 1-3 Generally shown are various embodiments of an apparatus for processing a hydrocarbon stream comprising methane provided with:

[0075] a supply pipeline for providing a wet hydrocarbon stream 510 comprising at least methane and water;

[0076] at least one wet feed heat exchanger 545 connected to the supply conduit, arranged to receive the wet hydrocarbon stream 510 and reduce the temperature of the wet hydrocarbon stream 510;

[0077] A water removal unit 525 arranged to receive the wet hydrocarbon stream 510 d...

Abstract

A wet hydrocarbon stream (510) comprising at least methane and water at a temperature equal to the first temperature is cooled to reduce the temperature to a second temperature. In the water removal unit (525), at least one wet disposal stream (590) comprising water is output from the wet hydrocarbon stream at a second temperature. An effluent stream (560), comprising a wet hydrocarbon stream from which at least one wet disposal stream (590) has been removed, exits the water removal unit (525) and flows to another heat exchanger (535). At least one refrigerant stream (210) also flows to said further heat exchanger (535), and the effluent stream (560) and refrigerant stream (210) are in said further heat exchanger (535) Cooling is performed by indirect heat exchange with the evaporative refrigerant fraction (230). The effluent stream (560) is heated by indirect heat exchange with the wet hydrocarbon stream (510), wherein said cooling of the wet hydrocarbon stream (510) includes the indirect heat exchange.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for treating hydrocarbon streams including methane. Background technique [0002] Hydrocarbon streams including methane may come from many sources such as natural gas or petroleum reservoirs or from synthetic sources such as the Fischer-Tropsch process. In the present invention, the hydrocarbon stream preferably comprises or consists essentially of natural gas. Treating and cooling such hydrocarbon streams is useful for a number of reasons. It is especially useful for liquefying hydrocarbon streams. [0003] Natural gas is a useful fuel source, as well as a source of various hydrocarbon compounds. It is often desirable to liquefy natural gas in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant located at or near the source of the natural gas stream for a number of reasons. Natural gas, for example, is easier to store and transport over long distances in liquid form than in gaseous form because it takes up le...
