A model-based calibration method for a gasoline engine belongs to the technical field of gasoline engines. The object of the present invention is to design and develop a gasoline engine calibration method based on a statistical model mainly for the dynamic optimization calibration process of a gasoline engine. The present invention includes (1) the design of the test operating point, (2) the establishment of a mathematical statistical model, and (3) the design of an optimized calibration program. In the first test design stage of the present invention, relatively few test points can be selected to reduce the workload, and the statistical model of the engine can be established in combination with mathematical statistical methods after collecting relevant data. Finally, the optimal calibration is carried out on the basis of the statistical model. This method saves time and reduces the cost on the basis of improving the performance of the engine without losing the calibration accuracy.
