The method mainly achieves the aim of real-time monitoring of a rolling line strip steel position signal on a hot rolling production management level computer system (MES). According to the technical scheme, the method comprises the steps of (1) collection of the strip steel tracking signal, wherein a strip steel specification from a process control system and tracking information of strip steel entering and getting out of rolling mill equipment and the like are collected on the MES in a telegraph text communication manner; (2) analysis of the strip steel tracking signal, wherein analysis processing is carried out on the collected tracking signal according to the strip steel specification and the position of the strip steel, and an effective tracking signal is stored in a fixed-length tracking signal table in a database by adopting a fixed tracking position as a keyword; and (3) monitoring of the strip steel tracking signal, wherein tracking signal change information in the database is monitored in real time on an MES client side, and therefore the position of the strip steel and the state of the rolling mill equipment are determined.
