The invention relates to a method and system for receiving PDCP (packet data convergence protocol) data packets; the method comprises the steps of receiving PDU (packet data unit) data, and extracting a PDCP serial number according to the PDU data; detecting whether a data link is under discontinuous transmission or not according to a value relationship between the PDCP serial number and a next PDU serial number to be received; if yes, determining whether a data link receiving the PDU data currently is under upward reestablishment or not; if the data link is not under upward reestablishment, abandoning the PDU data, and keeping a state variable to a previous recorded value. Determining and abandoning are performed upon the receipt of an abnormal malformed packet, related state variables are under good maintenance, abrupt change of PDCUP state variables is prevented, malformed data packets from a bottom layer are rejected in time such that mistaken abandoning of subsequent massive correct data packets due to one malformed packet is avoided, the robustness of PDCP protocol layer in processing data services is greatly improved, and user experience is improved.
