The invention relates to a method for starting an engine. Methods and systems are provided for reliably starting an engine during a cold start. In one example, a method may include preheating an intake manifold by compressing intake air via an electric supercharger in response to an engine start request, and adjusting intake manifold pressure prior to initiating a first combustion of the engine.
