Problems solved by technology

[0004] However, there is a problem that when turning, a larger lateral force acts on the land portion on the vehicle outer side of the tread portion than on the land portion on the vehicle inner side. When the rigidity of the land portion on the outside of the vehicle is the same, good handling stability cannot be obtained

Embodiment

[0122] have figure 1 Pneumatic tires with a size of 215 / 60R16 of the basic pattern were trial-manufactured according to the specifications in Table 1, and the ice and snow road performance and handling stability of each trial tire were tested. Common specifications and test methods for each trial tire are as follows.

[0123] Tread width TW: 166mm

[0124] Axial width La / TW of the outer shoulder land portion: 22%

[0125] Tire axial width Lb / TW of the inner shoulder land portion: 22%

[0126] Length L7 / Lb of inner shoulder transverse groove: 83%

[0127] Groove width / P2 of inner shoulder transverse groove: 10%

[0128] The second outer middle horizontal groove, the first inner middle horizontal groove, and the second inner middle horizontal groove have the same shape and size as the first outer middle horizontal groove. The outer middle land portion and the inner middle land portion have the same tire axial width

Abstract

The present invention provides a tire which suppresses the descent of the ice and snow road performance and effectively improves the handling stability performance. The tire (1) is designated as the direction of installation of the vehicle. The tread portion (2) includes an outer shoulder land portion (5A) and an inner shoulder land portion (5B). The outer shoulder land portion (5A) is provided with a first outer shoulder saddle (8) that is terminated in the outer shoulder land portion (5A) and an outer shoulder cross groove (10) that is terminated in the outer shoulder land portion (5A). The inner shoulder land portion (5B) is provided with a first inner shoulder saddle (15) communicated with an inner shoulder main groove (3B), an inner sholder cross groove (17) that is terminated int the inner shoulder land portion (5B), and a connecting saddle (18) connecting the tire axial inner end (17e) of the inner sholder cross groove (17) and the inner shoulder main groove (3B).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a tire capable of suppressing the decline of performance on icy and snowy roads and effectively improving the handling stability performance. Background technique [0002] In recent years, in winter tires for which the direction of installation on a vehicle is specified, chances of running on dry roads other than icy and snowy roads have also increased. For such tires, not only good performance on icy and snowy roads but also excellent steering stability performance on dry roads (hereinafter, sometimes simply referred to as "handling stability performance") is required. [0003] In order to improve performance on icy and snowy roads, for example, a tire has been proposed in which sipes are uniformly arranged in a tread portion in the tire axial direction. [0004] However, there is a problem that when turning, a larger lateral force acts on the land portion on the vehicle outer side of the tread portion than on the lan...
