The method that is used for three-dimensional modeling of an object placed on a rotary table by using a camera array comprises: initial projection matrixes of all cameras in the camera array relative to the rotation center of the rotary table are obtained; the rotary table is controlled to rotate around the rotation center at a plurality of angles and rotation projection matrixes of all cameras and a rotation shooting picture of the object are obtained at each rotation angle; according to the rotation projection matrixes and the rotation shooting pictures, three-dimensional modeling is carried out by using an SIFT feature to obtain a three-dimensional model of the object. With the precise rotation angle information of the rotary table, the image texture requirement is reduced; instability caused by image-feature-based estimation of internal and external parameters of the camera during the traditional image-based three-dimensional modeling process can be eliminated; and the real scale can be extracted and automatic and accurate three-dimensional reconstruction of objects can be realized. The method and apparatus has characteristics of fast speed, high pertinence, low cost, and small splicing accumulation error.
