Embodiment Construction

[0054] Figure 1A A block diagram of an exemplary server rack 100A in a network according to an embodiment of the present invention is shown. In this example, the server rack 100A includes: multiple nodes (such as server systems 101 and 102 ) and a microcontroller 103 (such as RMC). Each of the plurality of nodes may include: a processor (such as 1012 or 1022), a BIOS (such as 1016 or 1026), a BMC (such as 1118 or 1128), and a memory (such as 1014 or 1024). Multiple nodes can operate independently of each other. In some implementations, multiple nodes may have similar computing power and memory capacity. In some implementations, the multiple nodes may be of various sizes, computing power, and memory capacity.

[0055] In this example, BIOS (such as 1016 or 1026) and BMC (such as 1118 or 1128) may be coupled to memory (such as 1014 or 1024) via a processor (such as 1012 or 1022). The BIOS or BMC can access or manage the memory via the memory control module (such as 1013 or 1...

Abstract

Methods and systems for analyzing record and usage in post package repair. Various examples of the present technology provide systems and methods for tracking PPR usage in dual in-line memory modules (DIMMs) of a server system. BIOS of the server system can check a record of the PPR usage before conducting a PPR flow and sending a usage status of spare row(s) of a plurality of bank groups of a DIMM to a controller (e.g., BMC) of the server system such that a user or the server system can check PPR status of each DIMM of the server system. A determination can be made either automatically by the server system or manually by the user whether or not to replace a corresponding DIMM.

Description

technical field [0001] The inventive technique is primarily relevant to server systems in telecommunications networks. Background technique [0002] Post-packaging repair (PPR) is a feature of fourth-generation double data rate (DDR4) synchronous dynamic random access memory (SDRAM). PPR provides a mechanism to repair memory defects using spare ranks available in a bank group of SDRAM. However, PPR is permanently repaired and once repaired it cannot be reversed. Therefore, there is a need to enhance the PPR function in DDR4SDRAM. Contents of the invention [0003] Systems and methods according to various embodiments of the present technology, which track and manage multiple memory bank groups (such as dual in-line memory modules, DIMMs) that support post-packaging repair (PPR) to A technical solution for solving the above problems of the server system is provided. More specifically, various embodiments of the present technology provide methods for tracking PPR usage in...
