The method includes the following steps: carrying out tread image extraction on a standard vehicle wheel to extract standard phase information from an image; carrying out tread image extraction on a to-be-measured vehicle wheel to extract to-be-measured phase information from an image; carrying out subtraction on a to-be-measured phase and a standard phase to obtain a phase difference between any point on a to-be-measured vehicle wheel tread and a reference plane, and acquiring treaddepth information of the to-be-measured vehicle wheel; removing grating portions in the tread image of the to-be-measured vehicle wheel, and acquiring tread image information of the to-be-measured vehicle wheel; and adopting image fusion technology to fuse the above-mentioned acquired tread depth and image information of the to-be-measured vehicle wheel for display.
