The method disclosed by the invention has the benefits that the leaf image is acquired by using the scanner so as not to be influenced by an external environment; the image is clear, adopts 1:1 reduction and is free from deformation; and as the plant leaf area is determined by using the Photoshop image processing software, manualdata recording and measurement result calculation are not required in the process, and a program is used for automatic measurement according to the set measurement ratio. The method is simple and quick, the amount of information is large, the measured data includes four indexes: leaf area, perimeter, height and width and is not influenced by leaf shape, size, color, thickness and exterior, and measurement results are accurate; and the method is rigorous in science, low in cost, widely applicable to the determination of the areas of various plant leaves and wide in application prospect.
