The automatic cover opening and closing device comprises a rack, a packaging barrel transferring mechanism, a barrel cover operation mechanism, a three-axis drive mechanism and a rotation driving mechanism. A seal cover taking station is arranged in the rack. The packaging barrel transferring mechanism is used for moving the packaging barrel in or out of the seal cover taking station. The barrel cover operation mechanism is connected to the rack and located above the seal cover taking station. The three-axis drive mechanism drives the barrel cover operation mechanism to move in three-dimension space for taking and placing a barrel cover. The rotation driving mechanism drives the barrel cover operation mechanism to rotate so that the barrel cover operation mechanism can be aligned with a connecting bolt of the packaging barrel. The barrel coveroperation mechanism operates the connecting bolt of the packaging barrel so that the packaging barrel can be opened or closed.
