The invention discloses a moving target tracking method based on a Camshift algorithm. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring a video image, and preprocessing the image; detecting the moving target by using a target detection algorithm; converting the video image into an HSV model, adopting a color probability histogram statistical method for the target, carrying out reverse projection, and obtaining the size of a target feature template and the size of an initial search box; adopting a Camshift algorithm to calculate and adjust the search box size and the mass center coordinate of the next frame, and updating the feature template; predicting the mass center coordinate of the next frame, and feeding back a result to a Camshift algorithm; judging whether the moving target encounters interference or not to determine a fusion coefficient so as to determine the size and position of a search box of each frame and realize accurate tracking of the moving target; and obtaining thenext frame of image, updating the target feature model, and repeating the above process until the tracking of the moving target is completed.
